Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is embarking on a capital campaign in support of a master plan to expand, enhance & preserve its historic fleet so that future generations will be able to experience the wonder of train travel.
Thanks to the vision of a band of like-minded historians and train enthusiasts, today visitors of all ages and backgrounds relive the glory days of train travel and experience the beauty and wonder of Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s river valley, canal and historic villages from the comfort of a seat on the train.
The PlanIn September 2018, hundreds of people gathered for the first sighting of these Zephyr cars as they pulled into the Rockside Station completing their journey that began in San Francisco and ended at their new home in the Cuyahoga Valley. CVSR already owns the Silver Bronco, another Vista dome observation car that was part of the original California Zephyr train set. With this acquisition, CVSR becomes one of the nation's few railroads in possession of four cars from the original California Zephyr fleet.
The Master Plan will also provide funding for the following projects:
More than $3.4 million has been raised to date from generous donors. But, another $1.6 million is needed as generous campaign contributions to Powering Ahead: The Campaign for Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad to complete the Zephyr acquisition and completely realizing the fleet master plan.
$3.4mAn amazing group of leadership donors have already joined the campaign and committed themselves to the fundraising effort.
See Campaign LeadersWe invite you to join us and put your philanthropic power into our campaign. Together we can realize this master plan and preserve and enhance that magic of the whistle in the valley for the next generation.
The work ahead will only be possible with support by a broad group of committed, passionate citizens who love and respect the railroad and all that it adds to Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the region.
We'd love to give you a tour, take a ride on the rails with you or just have a cup of coffee at our historic Tilden house office and share more about our plans.
