Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad embarked on a capital campaign in support of a master plan to expand, enhance & preserve its historic fleet so that future generations will be able to experience the wonder of train travel.
Thanks to the vision of a band of like-minded historians and train enthusiasts, today visitors of all ages and backgrounds relive the glory days of train travel and experience the beauty and wonder of Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s river valley, canal and historic villages from the comfort of a seat on the train. The Plan
For twenty-one years, until March of 1970, the unforgettable stainless-steel California Zephyr “Silver Lady” ran between Chicago and San Francisco. In 2018, the Zephyr cars pulled into the Rockside Station completing their journey to their new home in the Cuyahoga Valley. Today, four of the original 77 “Silver Lady” California Zephyr train cars take passengers back in time through Cuyahoga Valley National Park as they enjoy Dinner on the Train, Grape Escape wine tastings, Ales on Rails beer tastings and other event excursions
The Master Plan also provided funding for the following projects:

$4.0 million was raised to date from generous donors to help Powering Ahead: The Campaign for Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, but the work of improving CVSR and providing enhanced experiences to our community never ends. Additional projects that have been completed in support of our master plan to enhance our fleet are upgraded restrooms and HVAC in all cars. We are also in the process of re-branding the entire fleet of cars to the original Budd manufactured design.
$4.0m An amazing group of leadership donors joined the campaign and committed themselves to the fundraising effort.See Campaign Leaders
We invite you to join us and put your philanthropic power into our campaign. Together we can realize this master plan and preserve and enhance that magic of the whistle in the valley for the next generation.
The work ahead was only possible with support from a broad group of committed, passionate citizens who love and respect the railroad and all that it adds to Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the region.
We'd love to give you a tour, take a ride on the rails with you or just have a cup of coffee at our historic Tilden house office and share more about our other future plans.
